10-Minute Cardio
Don't have time to get your cardio in? Well, you
may need to think again. I had to.
One of the men
profiled in "Fit
Over 40" is 80-year- old fitness guru Dr. Len Schwartz. Len is the
creator
of "Heavy Hands", and has been training for years
using 10-minute sessions several times a day rather
than one long session. He's also under 10% body fat!
Personally, I figured he was just naturally lean. I
mean, you should see this guy. But, he's not -- and
this idea has more merit than one person's plan
may indicate. |

Research at
several major universities, all done
in the past two years, are showing the same
results: 10 minutes of cardio 2-3 times per day
is "equally or more effective" at decreasing
body fat and triglyceride levels as one long
bout of 30 minutes.
That means less fat and lowered risk of disease, all
in just 10 minutes a few times a day. Sounds like a
bargain, especially when you consider the option
may be pre-mature death and obesity.
This doesn't have to be 10 minutes of all-out,
gut-busting effort, but it needs to be more than
just a casual stroll.

One of my
biggest challenges with cardio, and
see if you don't agree, is the boredom factor. I
can train with weights until cows start to bark, but
cardio tends to bore me silly.
Well, the beauty of this new data is assurance.
Even I can be boredom-free for a whopping ten
minutes, especially when I know I'm burning body
fat, helping my heart, and assisting my body in
recovery from weight training all at the same time.
There you go -- you have all the time you need.
